Family Litigation
Divorce, child arrangements and financial matters, handled with care and discretion.
Family disputes are among the most stressful experiences anyone can face. We give clear, practical advice and, where agreement is not possible, represent you in court, always with your children’s welfare and your future in mind.
How we can help
- Divorce and dissolution: including the “no-fault” divorce process
- Financial settlements: dividing property, savings and pensions, and making agreements legally binding
- Child arrangements: where children live and the time they spend with each parent
- Protective orders: non-molestation and occupation orders where there is abuse or harassment
- Cohabitation disputes: for unmarried couples who separate
Our approach
Where possible we help you reach agreement through negotiation or mediation, which is usually quicker and less costly. When court is necessary, we prepare your case thoroughly and represent you firmly.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a divorce take in England and Wales?
Under the current no-fault system there is a minimum of 20 weeks between applying and the conditional order, and at least six weeks more before the final order. Financial matters can take longer.
Do I need to attend mediation before going to court?
In most children and financial cases you must attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) before applying to court, though there are exceptions, for example where there is domestic abuse.
Is our conversation confidential?
